The original "Space Invaders" calculator game from the 1980's is the vintage MG-880, not made since the early 1980's.

I have a "clicky" left thumb... which I'm blaming on over-use with that calculator when I was 14 !!

The MG-880 are very expensive, are fragile and often not working 100%.  If you are more interested in re-living the actual game with a more robust calculator, then ... Casio realised your need and have produced a faithful replica in the form of the SL-880 shown on this page for sale.

Watch this video to see me demonstrating it:  See the video here

Unsure how to play? The original manual for the MG-880 in English is here, and game play and use is identical for the SL-880-N.  Below is the essential idea of game play.  Don't get too exicited about the orange buttons:  they are for adding and subtracting sales tax!

An improvement over the original is that there is a mute button:  you can toggle sound and on & off with the "+/-" key (has a musical note symbol next to it to remind you.

The item itself comes with Japanese instructions, but the MG-880 English manual is here

If you lived the '80's, nothing more needs to be said

If you missed out on the '80's, read about this classic calculator at liquidcrystal.co.nz

The item here, in music mode, plays "When the saints go marching in" and also allows you to press keys to play your own tune
